been around for 6+ years (got my ogden tonic on my rit today )...still dont have gwamm, have more than 10k hours played --MOST of them NON-afk...have over 30 characters that I play regularly (why I dont have gwamm yet )....and still dont have 50/50....got my titles the old way (including carto).....
I just hope they continue to do birthday gifts even after their next game comes out--I have no intention of buying it since its the same company that is giving you repeat birthday gifts.

I love how people apparently start hating ArenaNet because we get free gifts.

that is just ONE example...I dont hate anet either---just not happy with the way they handle things like customer service (chapter every 6 months, monthly updates, etc)...if you went to a restaurant and ordered a meal and then after you had waited for 30 minutes were told they didnt have the item what would you do? Even if you did come back to that restaurant and it happened again and again--would you still keep eating there? (why would you come back the 2nd or 3rd time?).....just not a good way to deal with your customers.
Free gifts have almost nothing to do with my not buying another anet product--its the (lack of good) customer service (dc'd even now...and the live team is gone).

Well, for some reason you still feel the need to play the game/stay here on the forums, even though apparently everything ArenaNet is doing is worthless and stupid.
Had I though that I would have left a long time ago.

So, no whites in the 7th year B-day presents? No temple guardians? No whiptail devourerers? Not even a siege turtle? I'll say "YAY" to that! For me, that means there's only one way I'll get a repeat mini. But, with the horrible, horrible luck I've had over the years with b-day prezzies, I'll probably be seeing another Jora soon.

I never felt like the birthday presents were a reward for loyalty. I started playing in may 2005, have never stopped playing for more than a few (holiday) weeks at a time, brought 9 people to the game (all RL friends and family) and bought most of what they have on offer in the store, yet every year I need to wait until march to get one of the latest batch of birthday presents.
Just because I cleaned out my account. Having dabbled in all 6 professions at that time, my characters were all over the place with regard to quests and progress and I didn't have a single one that I had a proper 'feeling' for. So I deleted them all in March 2006 and started a fresh one to play as a main.
If loyalty was a ever a factor, they should've gone with account age instead of character age, because loyalty lies with a player, not a character.

I don't hate ArenaNet, I am just very disappointed that the 7th year present is a redux. I guess I was expecting more for my 7th b-day.
If only the 7th b-day stack, wow I'm impressed, they won't stack with the ones I already have, which is all but the Eye of Janthir, which I really do not want. This is not anything special, just a redux with a tweek!
I am not going to stop playing because of this, just very disappointed.

I dont think they mean the miniatures from inside the presents stack, I think they mean the present itself stacks, before you've opened it. 'Suggesting' that if the present stacks, you 'might' get more than one of them.

Actually going by your example its more like you paid for one really good meal 7 years ago and the Restaurant is letting you take what you want from the all you can eat buffet. The downside is that the meals take a long time to make adn are not always available. The up side however is that once you receive the meals they are still very good (lets face it, GW still has a great storyline and the overall graphics are amazing if you take the time to actually look at the detail). Now people are comming in and complaining about how the yearly complimentary toys in the Happy meals are not up to the standards they paid for with that one meal 7 years ago.
OK, the support is not up to scratch compared to some companies (however I can not name many companies which have flawless suport), but a whole damn shade better than most companies (Ever tried the Steam support for example). The 3 times which I needed support from Anet or NCsoft, I received a human answer within 3 days which actually solved my problems.
On top of that players of GW receive many voluntary thank you gifts from Anet even though they do not necessarily bring in more funds through purchases (Randomly sent Christmas greeting cards or multiple free to enter contests each year which sometimes even have real life and usefull gifts from external sponsors).
EDIT: To get this post back on topic
Id just like to add. Ive heard the rumor that the 7th year gifts are minipets which have not previously been placed in the HoM on the accounts where they are opened. It would be interresting to hear if this is true (easy to check).
Please write if you receive a duplicate minipet from the 7th year presents, or if you receive a minipet from past series which you have already dedicated in your HoM at the time of receiving or opening the 7th year present.

Seems like wishful thinking. If that's true, some people will get insanely rare pets with every gift. Speaking for myself, I would never draw a pet that's currently worth less than around 1000 ecto.

Im not talking about the ultra rare minipets. What I meant was a purple, gold or green minipet from the previous birthdays, but one which was also not displayed on the account HoM.
For example, if you have all coloured Birthday minipets, except for the elf, Eye of Janthir and Lich... then you would only receive one of these 3 minpets or one of the new minipets which John Stumme mentioned earlier in this thread.
To refute this theory, someone needs to receive a minipet which they already have displayed in their HoM.

And what if you already have ALL coloured birthday minipets in your HoM?
Nice theory, but seems unlikely. We'll see soon enough...

My Hall if full of mini pets, so even if I get one that I don't have dedicated there, I don't need to add it to my Hall.
The ones that I wanted to get, I bought them dedicated, just because I wanted them.

I've checked that old 5th and 6th year presents don't stack. Might be hard to get 2x 7th to confirm they're different.

Interesting theory there and it shouldn't be hard to disprove - everyone who opened a 7th gift should post if they already had that mini dedicated in their HoM.
In my case it's correct - Opened that Flowstone Elemental which I don't have yet in my HoM.

No you don't. All it requires is a person to have lots of time and money. Its the same with 50/50 HoM.

As to getting a mini not already in the HoM...it might even be that you'd get a mini not dedicated in the b-day CHARACTER's HoM. That is, your birthday character would need to have all minis dedicated in the hall in order to see a new pet.

Ineed. It would also be easily abused (right HoM composition, dedicated all minis except those which you want, profit from each gift) and thus very stupid idea to implement.

But seriously, stop you imagine things, nobody knows what is going to be in our 7th anniversary gifts... We must wait!
Just wait and then it should not be abused, it's not because you have 7 years of playing GW that you should have more privileges.
They looked like kids who have not had their happy meal ...
I find it very respectable that Arenanet decides to help players who need to finish their pantheon as to help the rich get rich even more (the more you are old in the game, you have more chance of be rich ...).
Just think of others instead of thinking only of yourself.
Thx.
